CYCLING
SMALL GROUP COACHING

Cycling is a fantastic way to stay fit.  Our cycling clientele ranges from fitness enthusiasts to bike racers, from beginner triathletes to people who ride longer than an Ironman.

SBR offers year-round cycling coaching through our small group classes.  During the summer months, we head outdoors with focused cycling workouts that leave no one behind.  During the winter months, all our cycling occurs in our CompuTrainer studio, which gives you a unique experience and opportunity to improve your skills and fitness while riding your own bike.

Our goal with each practice is to provide knowledge and guidance so that when you are on the roads, you have confidence and feel fit.  We offer a variety of weekly class times for our Performance-Based Cycling (PBC) program.

Riders typically ride 1-3 times per week.  Rides are also available to those who want to drop-in on occasion to have a high-quality ride in a group setting.

See our offerings below!

Important Note on Indoor Biking Equipment

For your bike to work on the CompuTrainer, the back tire of your bike must be smooth (without treads). A trainer tire is recommended but not required. Normal road tires will work, but if you ride a full winter session on a road tire, it will likely be too worn down to use safely on the roads in the spring. The front tire will be placed on a block, so any front tire type will work.

To hook up to the trainer, you must have an appropriate training skewer. For bikes with rim brakes, you need a quick-release trainer skewer. For bikes with disc brakes, you need a thru-axle trainer skewer. There are multiple types of thru-axle skewers, so check with your local bike shop to make sure you get the right one for your bike.

Not sure if your bike will work? We are more than happy to look at it for you and help you to make adjustments or make recommendations so that it will!

PERFORMANCE-BASED CYCLING (WINTER)

Bike Class SBR Endurance Performance Coaching

With more and more cyclists using power, cadence, efficiency, and other data methods as a means to train, we offer a performance-based training program to create structure during the cold winter months that allows you to use and learn these components as you work toward your goals.

During a typical class, athletes will warm-up on their bikes and calibrate into the CompuTrainer system.  The coach will explain the workout, load everyone onto the course, and coach you through the ride.

Each class will be something a little different as you move through the comprehensive program, working on cycling skills, shifting skills, hill climbing, sprint intervals, and more.

Our weekday training programs meet twice a week with an option for a longer ride on Sunday mornings.  The Sunday rides can complement the weekly PBC training, or athletes can sign up for Sundays only.  Choose the option that works best for you!

PERFORMANCE-BASED CYCLING (SUMMER)

Biking Class Coaching Madison Verona

Our summer classes are no-drop rides that will help you with outdoor cycling skills, technique, training consistency, hill climbing, flat road racing, drafting, and more!

We typically will leave together from the SBR parking lot, ride out to our location, and then do intervals around a designated route.  For a few rides each summer, the group meets at an alternate location to do a more specific workout; this will all be communicated with plenty of notice.

Whether you’re training for a triathlon of any distance or just enjoy road cycling, the format will help you to gain fitness and comfort riding with others and on the roads.

Helmets are required for all outdoor riding.

In addition to our summer outdoor riding, we offer a once-a-week indoor ride on Thursday mornings at the SBR studio for those who prefer to train with the CompuTrainers for power, cadence, etc.

WOMEN’S INDOOR CYCLING (WINTER)

Beginner Triathlon Training Classes Team Coaching

This beginner-friendly women’s cycling program provides a small group opportunity for athletes who are newer to cycling or to triathlon who want to build from the ground up.

Our Women’s Indoor Cycling program is a 12-week session beginning in January.  This course begins with the basics and gives riders the tools they need to feel fit and confident to tackle outdoor riding.  During our sessions, we will teach you all about proper cycling posture, pedaling technique, cadence, shifting, perceived exertion, and climbing.  Whether you’ve been riding for a while or are looking to get started, we can help you take the next step.

You will need your own bike.  Your bike must have a smooth rear tire (no treads or mountain bikes).  Your bike must also have an appropriate training skewer.  Not sure if your bike will work?  We are more than happy to look at it for you and help you make adjustments so that it will!

SMALL GROUP CLASSES:

  • Tuesdays 6:00-7:00 P.M. from January 9 through April 2 (no class February 20).

RATES:

  • Full session $225
